This Privacy Policy explains how ElevareAI Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"), operating the Canuck-Tax.ca platform (the "Service"), collects, uses, and protects your personal information. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

This Service is currently available to residents of Canada excluding Quebec. Quebec residents are not eligible to use the Service at this time.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the personal information necessary to provide tax calculation services, including:

Account information: your name and email address.
Tax information: information you enter to calculate your taxes, which may include your address, Social Insurance Number (SIN), income, and related financial details.
Billing information: handled by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.

We collect this information only when you provide it to us directly through the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information solely to:

Operate the Service and perform the tax calculations you request;
Manage your account, subscription, and billing;
Communicate with you about your account and the Service;
Comply with our legal and record-keeping obligations.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not use your tax information for advertising or any purpose other than providing the Service.

3. Your Social Insurance Number (SIN)

If you choose to enter your SIN, it is used exclusively for tax calculation purposes. Your SIN is encrypted when stored. We never sell or disclose your SIN except as required to provide the Service or as required by law.

4. Data Residency

All personal and tax-related information is stored on secure servers located within Canada.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your data. We share personal information only:

With service providers who help us operate the Service (for example, our payment processor and our cloud database and email providers), who are bound to protect it;
When required by law, such as in response to a valid legal request;
With your consent.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information as described below:

Active accounts: we retain your information for as long as your account is active.
After cancellation: when you cancel, you have a 7-day reactivation window, after which your account is deactivated and you will no longer have access to it.
After deactivation: your tax-related data is retained for 6 years from the date of account closure, in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) record-keeping guidance. During this period the data is stored securely, with the same encryption protections as active data, and is not used or shared except as required by law. After this period, the data is securely deleted.

7. Security

We take the protection of your information seriously. Security measures are described in our separate Security Policy.

8. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information (subject to the legal record-keeping obligations described in Section 6) by contacting us at the address below. You may also cancel your account at any time through your account settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
